Animate in 4 Weeks
Blender Basics for Kids (Ages 9–15)

Class Descriptions
Blender Introduction
In this four-week Kids Animation with Blender course, students explore 3D animation through hands-on learning. They start with Blender basics (Week 1), progress to modeling and texturing (Week 2), learn animation principles (Week 3), and finish with a short animated project (Week 4). This fun, interactive course builds a strong foundation in 3D creativity.

Week 1
This week focuses on getting familiar with Blender and the basics of 3D space.

Topics Covered:
-
Navigating Blender’s workspace: Viewports, toolbars, and panels
-
Understanding 3D coordinates (X, Y, Z axis)
-
Creating and manipulating basic 3D shapes (cubes, spheres, cones)
-
Introduction to object transformation: Move, Rotate, Scale
Modeling Basics
Week 2
Students will dive into 3D modeling techniques to create more detailed objects.

Topics Covered:
-
Understanding vertices, edges, and faces
-
Modifying objects to create unique shapes
-
Introduction to materials and textures
-
Basics of lighting and rendering an image
Animation Basics
Week 3
This week introduces animation principles and how to bring 3D models to life.

Topics Covered:
-
Understanding the timeline and keyframes
-
Using the Graph Editor for smooth movements
-
Creating a bouncing ball animation (timing & spacing)
-
Basic physics: Adding gravity and collisions
Final Showcase
Week 4
Students apply everything they’ve learned to create their own short animation.

Topics Covered:
-
Planning a walk cycle: Key poses and timing
-
Animating the cycle: Contact, passing, up, and down positions
-
Final rendering and exporting the animation
-
Presenting and receiving feedback
